Aug 022004

It all started when I was travelling by bus. Before I proceed, can I just say that there is a lot more to my life than travelling on buses, in case you’re wondering. No there isn’t.

Anyway, it’s another day in the Year of Our Lord called Saturday. I am on a single-decker bus, an old-fashioned type with not enough room to swing a cat, as we say in the UK. I am sitting in a single seat with my knees jammed against the seat in front of me, there is that much leg room. I can either swing my legs to the gangway and end up tripping passengers or I can find another seat with more leg room. Too late the bus is almost packed. I have a thought that I have enough room, I just think I don’t. Hmmm, time to think this one out.

I close my eyes and relax into my seat. I feel myself expand; or is it the seat has expanded? My knees seem to merge into the seat in front of me. I can no longer feel where the seat begins or where I end; or is it where I begin and where the seat ends. Oh bugger-it! Whatever is going on I’m as comfortable here as I would be in another seat with lots of leg room. I open my eyes to check whether anything has changed from the ‘material’ perspective. My knees are still jammed against the seat in front of me. Interesting, comfort really is a thought away.

It’s a new day in the Day of Our Lord they call Sunday. I’m in no mood to go out or do anything. I have the flat to myself. I’m lying on the sofa and drifting in and out of consciousness. At one point I hear a shrill sound in my left ear and I start flying at incredible speed. Then again I might just be sinking at incredible speed, it’s difficult to tell. For all I know, up is down and down is up and right is left, you get the picture. If I’m moving I have to be moving somewhere. It feels like I’m moving alright but I’m moving nowhere, fast.

Next, I am aware that I seem to be out of my body but very much aware I’m in the room. I can see myself lying on the sofa. When I first started experiencing this type of travelling, commonly called astral projection, my greatest fear was that I would not be able to return to my body. Then I got used to it. Them the fear changed to being out of my body and not being able to return; someone ends up finding me in this state and presuming I am dead.

As I hover over my body I hear the doorbell ring. I try to ‘wake’ up but can’t. I check to see who it is – my sister-in-law. She tries the doorbell again and as I’m not able to respond she lets herself in. What is she doing letting herself in? I know she and her husband have my mother’s keys for emergency but she has no right coming in without prior warning. I watch her come up the stairs and she’s in the living room where my body is. She says hello but doesn’t get a response. She shakes me and says “wakey, wakey!” I’m frantically trying to tell her that I can’t speak, I need her help but she doesn’t hear me. She goes to the kitchen. Maybe she’s brought my mother some food or something. I’m too busy trying to ‘wake up.’ Next she goes to the toilet. I need to wake up. Help! I hear a Voice telling me that in three seconds I’m going to return to my usual ‘waking’ state. I relax and soon I can feel my body. I listen out for my sister-in-law but she’s nowhere to be found.

Was that a dream? She was so real. The Voice tells me I had created the fear I’ve always had about being out of my body and being discovered in this way. My sister-in-law pops round from time to time and it was no surprise that I had used her image to create a scenario that represented my greatest fear. Why would I want to frighten myself? I am reminded of the disappointment I sometimes feel after watching a horror movie, expecting more blood and gore. This ‘trip’ was not that different. What about the other experiences I used to have during ‘astral projection’ of being groped, scratched and hearing voices that terrified me? They were all my creations based on fears that I had or shared with the collective consciousness. Because I no longer have them they are no longer manifested when I’m in this state. I also now realise that in this state I am Mind and whatever beliefs I have are immediately manifested and experienced. In 3-D reality it might take time to materialise.

There were times when I was a student when I would be watching chat shows while half asleep and end up ‘travelling’ in thought to the TV studio. I was doing my dissertation on talk shows, which meant watching lots of talk/chat shows. I was always puzzled why the presenter always seemed to have on a different outfit on the actual show compared to the show I travelled to in thought. Now I can see that I never actually travelled to those shows, I had simply reconstructed what I was hearing in thought. Astral projection suggests that one is travelling in thought. My experience demonstrates that I am not going anywhere and whatever is happening is simply a creation. When I saw reality as being outside of myself it appeared as if I was travelling to my destination. Now I understand reality to be within me in the ever-present Now and not moving, astral projection is simply creating reality from my perspective.

It is now a new day, today, another day in the Year of Our Lord, called Monday. I’m walking home with two bags of shopping. The journey is a mile long. I am in Mind. I have a thought that the weight of the bags depends on my perspective. I can feel the bags as very heavy and having to rest ever so often or I can see them for what they are, mind stuff. I project an image of myself carrying two bags and in this projection I feel nothing. When I arrive home I have to adjust my perception so I can communicate with my mother. When I lift the bags on to the kitchen table I realise they have suddenly gained weight.

For me reality is experienced in Mind. I can either experience a distorted sense of self that appears separated from Mind resulting in illusion; or I can be at one with Mind. In this state of oneness with Mind, I experience reality as infinite ideas where all is in complete harmony.

  1. i had a dream last nite and a man told me in a month i would astro travel to the mooon and told me about myself?i dont know what to think about that?any suggestions?

  2. Hello Manny.

Since there is no time as we know it, you can experience travel to the moon now. Why wait till a month’s time? I believe you are already on the moon (if you believe there is one) as you are everywhere. I also believe the man you saw in the dream was yourself. There’s no one else but you, mate. You already know the answer Manny.

    Happy travelling!

    Love Enocia

  3. ill like to know about skills that will lead me to mind travel. also i been practicing out of body experience, but i only achieve a lucid dream. hope to hear from you soon

  4. Hello Douglas,

Sounds like you’re doing what I do – practising. I also put out the intent that I want to experience mind travel, which you have also done. I was thinking of Freedom from one’s body on Sunday and closed my eyes. I found myself in a park in an instant. Then I jumped to Big Ben, where the Houses of Parliaments are in London. I kept going back to Big Ben, which was very odd. I’ve also been experimenting with seeing myself in several places at once, which feels really weird.

So it depends on your temperament, Douglas. There are many books out there, I had a look at one the other day but I didn’t make a note of the author. It’s a small book written as a journal of his travels and what he experienced. He was so used to travelling in his “astral” body and it did come as a shock to him when he realised that he was his Guide. He also experiences one level where he didn’t have a body, where he was just consciousness. My experience is you keep peeling off the layers until you realise you are Source and you don’t have a body as such.

You have put out the intent, Douglas, that you wish to do Mind travel. Keep being open and enjoy the opportunities to practise. If you want techniques, there are many books that will teach you techniques. I’ve never followed anyone’s techniques, I’ve just let it happen.

My advice to you is that if you read other people’s experiences, try not to have expectations. While other people’s experiences are very useful, there’s the danger of interpreting another’s experience as the only way. We are all unique in the way we experience reality. Go with what feels real for you. And trust in yourself. Mind travel is a lot of fun.

    Love always,

  5. Hi Enocia, I have this feeling when Im too tired and probab. dozing, Im seeing somthin that I feel is really happening around me and most of what I see generates stress. Is it bcos I may be undergoin stress during that particular moment? Just a thought……… thanks

  6. Hi Solar Ray,

About seeing something before dozing off. From time to time, I see visions and hear sounds just before falling asleep or when I’m meditating. I attribute the visions and sounds to the collective human consciousness. I wouldn’t worry about these thoughtforms, they are nothing.

    All is well, Solar Ray.

    With love,

  7. Hi Enocia,

There have been many times when I feel like I’m on the verge of leaving my conscious state (when I’m deeply relaxed) I get this pulsating type noise in my head, then I panic and never let myself be taken over. Only once did I let it happen and found myself looking down at me, I desperately wanted to get back into my body, suddenly there was this loud ‘shrill’ and a rushing sensation, I was back. This experience truly scared me from experimenting with this type of consciousness, the spiritual world (as I believe) is rather frightening due to the mystery of everything. I have had a number of spiritual experiences when I was younger, even though I know there is a binding link between the body and soul I worry about what may pass between. Your experience has given me much to ponder and I dare say I will begin a new quest to experience, control and understand this type of conciousness. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts, hopefully I will be able to add to them.

    Kind Regards,

  8. Hi Daniel,

Wonderful to hear your experiences. Thank you.

The first time I went on a mind “walkabout” I was very scared because I couldn’t get back in my body and thought I was dying or dead. Then I got used to it.

I used to hear buzzing sounds just before I was off on my “travels.” I have also heard the loud “shrill” but in a different context. Two years ago, I went on a two month retreat where I spent time meditating and contemplating. Then the shrills started. From time to time a friend, who I was house-sitting for at the time, would come round. I would ask him if he could hear anything and he said no. Then the shrills got louder and louder until I thought I was losing my mind which, in retrospect, I was I prayed for the noise to stop but it only got louder. When it finally stopped, I was left with profound silence. As I was looking for a reason for my experience, I soon came across the following from Madame Blavatsky’s book: “The Voice of the Silence.”

“41. Before thou sett’st thy foot upoin the ladder’s rung, the ladder of the mystic sounds, thou hast to hear the voice of thy inner God* in seven manners. * Higher Self
    42. The first is like the nightingale’s sweet voice chanting a song of parting to its mate.
    43. The second comes as the sound of a silver cymbal of the Dhyanis awakening the twinkling stars.
    44. The next is as the plaint melodious of the ocean-sprite imprisoned in its shell.
    45. And this is followed by the chant of the Vina. (The Vina is an Indian stringed instrument like a lute).
    46. The fifth like sound of bamboo-flute shrills in thine ear.
    47. It changes next into a trumpet-blast.
    48. The last vibrates like the dull rumbling of a thunder-cloud.
    49. The seventh swallows all the other sounds. They die, and then are heard no more.
    50. When the six are slain and at the Master’s feet are laid, then is the pupil merged into the One, becomes that One and lives therein.”

We are Source. According to one’s belief of Source one should expect a gamut of experiences.

    Enjoy your journey.

I look forward to hearing more about your experiences.

    Lots of love,
    Enocia :)

  9. I accidentally came across your website and found some very interesting readng. Can you guide me as to where I can get more information on what mind travel is all about and how would one go about trying it?
    Thanks in advance

  10. Dear Indu,

    Thanks for your comments.

Mind travel is a metaphor to explore one’s true nature as Spirit. It is most popularly called astral travel but I’m saying here is that there is nowhere for me to travel to; I am already there.

Your question is one that sets you on the “path” of realising who you are. The fact that you are reading essays and articles on this website indicates that you are open to explore who you are; indeed the “journey” has already begun.

Please note that my articles are not meant to instruct but to act as a map only. You’re going to have to trust in the Intelligence within you to guide you to articles and books that are suitable for you.

You may find the following articles I have written useful: Out of Body Experience (OOBE) – A Breakthrough; Maps.

    Enjoy exploring who you are.

    With love,
    Enocia :-)

  11. Hello…after last nights experience, I ended up here after searching for some info.

I am not sure when it first started happening , it was at least 5 years ago anyhow. I would get a loud buzzing sound while drifting to sleep, and almost like I was starting to float, while this was happening I felt completely frozen and couldnt move. For the longest time it scared me, thought that their was something seriously wrong with my head.
Some time later I decided that I would try to let go, sort of speak, and let it ‘take me further into it’ if that makes sense.

So off I went and after time I began ‘flying around’ where ever I felt like going or seeing it would take me there. This went on for awhile although I still really didnt know what I was doing, or what was really happening, the feeling of it was amazing though.

Last night I had a bit of a new experience, one which has never quite happened like that before. It started off like most times, me just flying about, I saw my sister, my mother, and then off I went forward over a body of water, and I could see in the distance.( I did have someone flying beside me as well – which I have never had before)
Now I am not sure how I got from that to what happened next….I just start floating upwards…..going faster and faster higher and higher, the feeling was amazing until I thought I may be going to far up and got a little bit scared about what was happening and within a few seconds ‘came back down’ (it was dark during the floating up par), whereas it was light during the first part.)
After I ‘woke up’ I was tingling all over for a good 1/2 minute or so. It is hard to describe my actual feelings during it, but afterwards I felt part scared, part excited and partly dissappointed that I had stopped it.
The tingling afterwards was definatly a first and I was almost in awww of the whole thing and didnt know what to make of it.

Then shortly I drifted to sleep, and here I am first thing this morning, trying to find information about astro travel, what it means, what I should really be doing, not doing etc.
I do know that the thought of it and the sense of peace and sort of finding ones self that people talk about here, leaves me with a lump in my throat and a huge rush of emotion. I just cant quite explain why I get like that when I think of taking such a journey.

I just dont know if this is really what is happening to me during those times.
I will now explore your site and others for all the info I can get, but I just thought that I would write my experience here so that I could hear some one elses thoughts, and maybe it would help give me a little bit of clarity.
    thank you

  12. Hi Laurie,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

Sounds to me like you are exploring who you are as Mind or Soul. It’s interesting that you were aware of a presence during your journey, a possible guide, perhaps? It could be You guiding yourself.

Yes, there is a lot of information about “astral travel.” Here’s another piece I wrote called: Out of Body Experience (OOBE) – A Breakthrough, which is of course from my own perspective.

Trust in your inner guide to show you the way. And have fun. :-)

    With love,

  13. Enoch…..were you the one who wrote about Thought-Forms? Very interesting experience! I tried to find you on the index, but you are not listed. I want to read more about TFs…

  14. Blimey, have I written about Thought Forms? I’ve written so much stuff. :-)

I’ve just done a search and found the article: Thought Forms.

By the way, you will find all my articles listed under vector8 writings.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Love EJ

  15. I experienced astral/mind travel for the first time last night and am unsure whether is safe to do again? Anyone with info or related sites reply…

  16. Hello Erica,

All I know is Mind is my/our true self and nothing to be feared. Any unpleasant experiences I’ve had were my projections and expectations.

Hope you find books and sites that will give you further insight.

    With love,

  17. does anybody know whats happening? I will lay in bed drifting to sleep and i get this really loud noise in my ear and i can hear people mumbling but i cant make out what there saying, my body starts to go numb and i feel like alot of weight on me, i open my eyes and everything goes away except for the numbness, that takes a minute or two to go away, doesnt happen everynight though, just on days when im depressed or high anxiety, im afraid to keep my eyes closed to see what happens…please help!!

  18. Dear Damon,

I used to have a similar experience when I would hear a buzz in one ear and feel like I couldn’t move and then I would feel myself split where I could see the physical body while another part of me was free and I was moving at incredible speed. Sometimes the experiences were pleasant and other times not so pleasant rather like a dream.

I’ve come to realise that I was simply waking up to the truth that I am Mind. The experiences are mind projections and nothing to be feared.

    With love,

  19. hi there, just thought i’d post my thoughts as i have never shared such with any like minded souls before. i found i started to ‘travel’some years ago, at first i thought spirits had entered me and played with my whereabouts, i felt they took me places, some where simply to the top of the roof of buildings and we would float for a while, some felt like bad spirits of which threw me around….were these spirits or was it some part of my self i wasnt aware of. i feel alot i travel now, i realise im flying and i have complete control, i see people below me and try and hide as i always feel i cannot be seen, i also practice jumping where i can i am stood feet on the ground and i can jump to extrodinary hights….. these all leave me feeling on top of the world so to speak….can you tell me anything about the earlier feelings Enocia, what do you think and where do you think i can go from here, i sometimes feel quite isolated in these experiences and do you think i can share them somehow?? also the noises and anxious feelings never come into it like you and other people have posted on here, why do you think that is aswell???

  20. Dear Littlered,

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences.

In answer to your questions, all I can to you is:

    1. As you can see from the article and people’s comments, you are not alone.

    2. The experiences are mind projections i.e. your perception and nothing to be feared. If you feel like exploring the experience then do so but I’m afraid I can’t tell you how it should be or what to expect. That’s the joy of life for each of us to explore in our own way.

I’m sure there are forums of like-minded people who you could share experiences with. Have you done a search on the Internet?

    With love,

  21. Hello there!
I was hoping you could expand on the topic of travelling in parallel dimensions/universes.
Thank you for taking the time

  22. Hi Taylor,

I believe there is only the ONE/Mind/Spirit being the many which you call dimensions, realities, dimensions or universes.

I can only share my experiences of being Mind, as I have done in this piece. In fact, every day I have different experiences of being Mind. Right now you could say I’m living in a parallel universe because I’m speaking to you from my reality and yet we share the one Mind.

So instead of discussing it, live it. Be Mind. Be your true self. Then you know what it means for you.

    With love,

  23. Hello Again. I was wondering if someone like yourself was astral travelling and a friend of yours gave you permission, would it be at all possible to contact him/her in their own dream?I hope this qustion is easy enough to understand. Thank you again for reading and answering my questions.

  24. Thank you for your question. I am sorry I am not able to answer your question because my focus right now is not on astral travelling but on being who I am in the here and now.

Hope you find what you’re looking for.

    All the very best.

    With love,

  25. Hi Enocia,
I googled mind travel in hopes that I would figure out what was going on with me and came across this website.
I have noticed that sometimes while doing everyday things, i will be thinking about something and my thoughts will travel to “what if this happened” type of thoughts. Whenever this happens, I feel a stir in my vision as it goes slightly blurry, and a strange feeling. I have absolutely no clue on how to describe this feeling, except.. an “oncoming” of something.
In some part of my mind I think it is something sort of like the “butterfly effect” movie, in where he moves through time. But then again, I have no idea! I am all new to this, and am looking for some sort of answer.
Can you tell me why this is or give me any information that may help me out?

    Thank you!

  26. Hi Tiffany,

I found your comments very interesting.

First of all, let me explain where I’m coming. I believe all is Mind, God, Love, Spirit. Even though I seem to be experiencing myself as a body in time and space, I am actually Infinite Mind in all time and all space and all realities. Therefore, at any one time I, as Mind, can “travel” to whatever reality and experience it and it will feel very real even though I haven’t had the physical experience.

You sound as if you’re experiencing yourself as Mind in different times. Whether it’s something you’ve already experienced or have yet to experience that I cannot tell you. Only you can figure that out for yourself.

I wrote an article recently called My Past, Present and Future Self, which you might find interesting.

Enjoy exploring who you are, Tiffany.

    With love,

  27. Hi, i would like to just say that there is a problem when we all have some sort of viewings of ourself, our minds have been poisoned by movies, pictures and by the ever growing imagination. What i have come to achived is to cancel one side of my brain to forget all of this and when achived without tricking your self or even lieing, you can understand how powerfull this can be.

    Good luck
Only 16 please understande my spelling mistakes.

  28. Hi Patrick,

Thank you so much for your comments.

All the very best to you too.

    With love,

  29. Hi there, the other day I slept at my friends house and while I was sleeping I could hear loud noises and my right side went numb ,I could feel someone touching me but i was unable to open my eyes or move. I was trying to fight it and then once i was able to open my eyes everything you have any idea what this could have been or what might of caused it?

  30. Hi Christina.

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have similar experiences you’ve described: feeling my body as paralysed, being able to open my eyes, even feeling a presence. All I can say from my experience is that they were projections of Mind. The recent Mind Travel I had which I shared in an article called The Final Conflict turned out to be myself seeing two days into the future. The fearful entity was a character in a sci-fi called “Doctor Who.” :-) See Following the Rainbow.

So in answer to your question, all I can say is you are Mind. Just enjoy exploring who you are as Mind without fear or judgment.

    All the best,

  31. Hello.
I am 18 years old, and I believe I may have just experienced my first “Astro Projection” yesterday.

After the experience , I immediately called my father to ask him questions, as he also did them when he was younger. However, I would like to just check to make sure this is what I believe it to be…

I was taking a nap on my bed, around 3 in the afternoon, and I wasn’t sleeping, more so just relaxing on the bed. I began to be on the verge of sleeping, but I was still conscious when all of a sudden it was as if I heard a loud pulsating sound, my fingers and arms became cold, and even though my eyes were shut, i saw almost a white static.
At this point, I was aware something “different” was occurring, and I tried to end the experience.

It took a little time to “get out of it” and come back.
When i “awoke” my arms were still somewhat tingly”
I was just wondering A) if this sounds like it is “astro-projection”
and also B) How did I do it?
I have tried to induce it in the past and nothing ever happened.
But yesterday, I was just taking a normal nap, and it occurred without any premeditation.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Now that i think of it – I wish i never ended it! After reading all these great experiences.

  32. Hi Jordan,

Thank you so much for sharing.

Your experience sounds very much to me like “astral projection.”

My astral projections have been similar to yours i.e. I would hear a buzz in one ear and feel myself taking off and finding my body lying stiff on the bed.

When I used to have them frequently, I had no idea how I had done it. They just used to happen spontaneously; never at night but either in the morning or if I’m lazing around in the afternoon and I fall asleep. When I was a student I had lots of astral projections. I used to watch television for research purposes. I would turn the TV on and fall asleep and find myself in the studio.

Because it always happened spontaneously, I didn’t think I could induce it, but recently I’ve been able to induce a kind of projection where I’m very aware I’m somewhere else as well as lying down. See Stepping Outside the Box

For my other articles on astral projection see: The Final Conflict; Out of Body Experience (OOBE) – A Breakthrough

Have fun exploring who you are, Jordan.

    With love,

  33. Hi Enocia/Vector8

    well to start off
i believe it is an excellent set of threads here

    ive read most of it
the things is that ive noticed that most people see things or go into astral mode when they are either in stress or meditating
i have a theory. It could be possible that the stress can actually create a portal for them to go into a state free mind which is a way to escape their pains.the visions can be a possible way to see the past or see what they want to see.I am not saying i am entirely correct since i have a similar experience in my childhood which sorta haunted me and made me search leading to this forum

    what happened was
as usual i was in some dream
and then in the dream i think i realised i was in a dream
and then i wanted to get away
i dont know what happened to me
my ears were blocked automaticaly as sorta pressure devolopment
ad i saw my self asleep from a very high distance above and started falling towards me
i got scared and afraid of fallin and hurting my self
even though i could see my self sleeping as i was and it was a first person look falling down into me
and the second i fell into my bed
    i woke
and i was drenched in sweat and my arm was like having lesser blood circualtion leading to higher sensitivity

and i believe that it is related to your so called mind travel
because i know i was there falling and i am certain the pressure in my ears and cirluatory thing happened
so if you have an explanation for me
    i’d highly appreciate it

  34. Thank you Vivek for sharing. I believe that all realities are dreams anyway whether we appear to be solid or ethereal. Right now, as I’m responding to your comment, I am dreaming I am writing this.

I believe I am here to realise myself as the dreamer of dreams and dream wonderful dreams.

Sounds to me like you’ve realised yourself as the dreamer of dreams too, Vivek.

    Happy travelling! :-)

  35. Hey, i want to go to another world like the mayans and the tribes of old.

  36. For the last year I have been thinking in my mind about something called mind travel. Didn’t know until I read your page that such a thing actually exist. I would really like to learn more about this. I want to mind travel into otter space and see the earth and other planets.

  37. Mind needs not any medium to travel. There is no measuring system or rod to measure its speed in this world/uiverse/galxy.Its co-bond is thought and imagination which can be transmitted or can be received in any dimension by a matching device which in our cse is our brain lump. The matching device may not work in another sphere of system of universe though there is a prevaling fact of imagination and thoughtswiriling round the universe some form of super cosmic energy………

  38. Very good article. Most people have same type of experiences during dream which appears by the interaction of our conscious and sub-conscious mind. If we able interact our conscious mind with unconscious mind we can easily travel by mind at any time. Mind can travel in any medium, at any time, at any speed and at any place in the universe and beyond. This may possible. May be ancient saints have the power to do so. So if we try we can.

    So Best of Luck.
