Here’s the situation. We are spirit, and mind is our instrument to be active. This mind, in a moment of temporary insanity, dreams up a world of form separate from the one and only reality that is God. Separating from the all powerful One is a fearsome act, but by mental dissociation the mind escapes from recognizing what it fears so much. It scatters its awareness further by identification with different dream bodies that don’t appear to be very enlightened. Next, as separate bodily identities we start asking ourselves questions like: “Am I enlightened?” “Are you enlightened?” “How can I become enlightened?”

If we would awaken right now, we would find ourselves fully enlightened, because that’s what spirit is forever. Reality is total. Totality doesn’t change at all. There’s only one spirit and it’s pure love, endlessly expanding. That’s how we were created: as an expansion of the love that is God. It’s the nature of love to always create more of itself, changelessly, forever and ever. This way, God is sharing Himself totally with us, and we share every aspect of our being fully with Him.

So, what are we doing here? This is clearly not where we belong. Our place is Heaven. Therefore, this temporal dream experience can only be turned into something useful if we see it as a teaching aid, to learn that love is what we are.

There’s nothing personal about enlightenment, neither is it partial. Knowledge is total, because reality is. Knowing the totality means being it, nothing less. There’s no way to be partially total. Parts are the illusion of a scattered mind and therefore do not exist.

So, all the drama belongs to the dream state, not to changeless reality. The drama consists of all things local, temporal, partial or personal.

As a dream ‘person’ I’ve not yet wholly accepted what I am. Therefore I’m still experiencing myself here, whether it’s in a body or not. Separation from reality is of the mind. Whether this insanity is being temporarily experienced in human form, or not, doesn’t matter. In a bodiless state one can still be dreaming of separation. It may be easier, though, to wholly accept our reality while still experiencing a body dream, because we’ve made this experience so convincing. The experiential feedback from a change of mind here, seeing our oneness manifested through different bodies, will make that realization much more convincing, too.

If there’s any truth in these words, it belongs to God – the undivided oneness that we are. All the foolish parts are my personal accomplishment – but not really, of course. 😉

One Response to “enlightened or what?”

  1. stan, i was moved by your post of may 26, enlightened or what? i point out your phrase “…the one and only reality that is God.

i also believe this, so much so, i do not see the possibility or even the notion of “separate” or separativeness exists. If indeed god is the only reality, there is nothing “outside” of God. All form, formation forming, all instances, ideas of future forms, etc, are all and already contained. This thinking of a separate state is as though you are contradicting yourself. Where is this “outside of or separate from”? This is planetary thinking. (There is a celestial body, such as earth spinning in space/galaxy, etc. Even continuing to universal, even cosmic thinking (universes within universe) must extend beyond to eonic thinking, as Dane Rudhyar points out in his book, “An Astrological Mandala, The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolic Places.

Eonic thinking means that we are all and always connected, however “distant” or unknown this “feels”. When one begins to think in this way, one can understand the “words of wisdom” i got from one of my spirit teachers i call The Grandmother. She said to me one day, “There are no pieces missing. There is nothing that needs fixing, except your attitude that it does!”

Now, i can begin to accept The Salmon people’s response” E’ee cahn croosh, e’ee wah, Mi-wah, rik-shay ( this is the way it is. So? Thank you Creator God, anyway!”

I like the humor in both! I hope this response will enlighten you further into that feeling of connectedness i feel (especially, now that i have found such thoughtful people like yourself at this great website. Aho!
