(In continuation of Dreams coming true Part I & II)
In 1991 I happened to meet a very old and feeble lady of 90 years old in a village. I approached her with the intention of telling her to repeat the name of a personal God. She was just sitting on the floor and had no strength to attend to any household work. I respectfully asked her how she passed her time when daytime is longer in the summer season and when nighttime is longer in winter. Further, I asked whether she kept her mind engaged in repeating the name of God. At this point she asked me whether various Gods (in Hinduism) are the same, or all different. I replied that they are incarnations of the same God, with different names, attributes, and purposes. One might consider the example of a white ray passing through a prism that gives a spectrum of colours. When this spectrum is made to pass through an inverted prism it turns to a white ray. God is one but manifests in different forms for whatever cause. He Himself knows better.
Then she told me her secret of passing nighttime with the Lord in child form. “He (the Lord) comes and plays with me and sometimes He pulls my hair, being naughty I push him off the cot.” I revered her in my mind and came away realizing that she was already at a higher level than me. I had no further talk and also couldn’t meet her afterwards. She unknowingly became my Guru for enjoying with God in child form. Devotion is known for being infectious!
Then, after almost a year, just before going to bed, I happened to think about the God in child form Who throws a charming spell on the devotees. In the wee hours I had a dream in which I saw two children, about 8 and 5 years old walking on a footpath in front of me. The elder one picked up a knife lying on the footpath and seeing me behind him, told me that he had found a knife. I took it from him fearing they might harm themselves (but maybe it was my greed to have the knife!). After a few steps he found another one and handed it over to me the same way. After another few steps, they turned to a by-lane saying that they had to go now. At this point I glanced at the younger one, who had remained silent throughout, while he was turning to the left side lane. Oh! when our eyes met I felt intensely the need to shed blissful tears in a lonely place, to my heart’s content.
Still in the dream, fortunately, I found a place where tents were not removed, though some function that had been held there was over, and nobody was present. I went to a corner place and sitting there, facing the corner, I enjoyed shedding tears. Suddenly, I woke up and felt like a fish out of water, losing the continuity of the dream. I fervently requested God to let me enjoy the state for another 15 minutes. By His grace I enjoyed the blissful state for another 15 minutes exactly. I felt so fortunate!!!
The meeting of our eyes did not happen in a normal way, but rather like a sudden and blind accident. The child was just an ordinary boy and I don’t know in what way his eyes were peculiar. I understood the crash a devotee feels when he comes across his Beloved God.
