On a beach of Goa (India) female tortoises come to lay their eggs in the sand and after laying the eggs they bury them in the sand. After hatching the newborn babies run towards the sea during high tide. It is their natural instinct which drives them to home (the sea). There are many such species which leave their eggs or newborn babies in alien places and whose babies return to their natural home driven by instinct.
Man is always seeking pleasure in all his activities because he is part of a blissful God. But under the influence of illusion he is trying to derive pleasure from physical objects with possessive feelings but this pleasure is limited in nature and only lasts a limited time. Though man is spirit in essence he considers himself a body and tries to enjoy himself through the five senses. His illusion is broken when he loses something most dear to him in the form of a person, wealth, self-esteem, prestige et cetera. Then a feeling of renunciation arises in the mind of some, while others overcome the feeling of renunciation soon by regaining the loss or by finding alternative solutions to their problems.
If a person is inclined to get rid of sorrows forever he may adopt the path of the mind and through the practice of meditation may achieve peace of mind and bliss in the Samadhi state, a rare state of mind. But he will have to renounce all relations and keep himself away from them because association with them causes sorrow. Also, the blissful state of mind remains till one is submerged in Samadhi. Finally, through the mental path one gets the feeling of “I am Brahman (Supreme Power)”, a formless supreme entity.
On 7 July 1977 during my meditative mood I had this feeling – “I am the Brahman”, the Supreme Being to whom I was searching (Death – a great spiritual teacher, indeed!) and had a blissful mood for a few days. My parents were devotees of the God with form and I was placed in that family, therefore my natural instinct was to adopt the path of devotion after this experience. They neither instructed me nor asked me to do any practice, but the seed of devotion was already in my blood.
Covering the devotional path since 1977 with various relationships with God, I have now become the slave of God, serving Him unconditionally. He has purchased me without money and I have sold myself for nothing. Serving Him is the source of supreme joy, of course.
I was losing my identity in the formless God like a heavenly body is attracted by and sucked into a black hole. Through devotion I am able to retain my identity and serve my beloved God in child form eternally (Please see my article: Mental service to God – a key to enjoy bliss). This is not ordinary duality in which we all are selfish but it is selfless or divine duality.
Children who missed the target in a previous life are usually born in a family of pious parents. Scientifically we can say there is a hereditary effect of such a couple on their children.
SP Sharma, India
I was born on 8 December 1945 and had self-realisation on 20 August 1977 at the age of 32. Thereafter I automatically shifted to the devotion path and a sort of relationship developed with God. Starting as a servant to God, then friendliness with God and then started liking God in child form. There is nothing left except to enjoy divine love and feel its presence in the whole world.
